Danny O'Neill is a charismatic and empathetic communicator and facilitator with a deep passion for people development, community engagement, and change leadership. Drawing on his South Pacific heritage (Fiji, Rotuma, and New Zealand) and the values instilled by growing up in a large family, Danny believes in the wealth of belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity. He is inspired by the power of storytelling, lived experience, and lifelong learning, which he integrates into his work to inspire and challenge individuals and organisations toward affirmative action.
Danny's group facilitation expertise extends to working with men, families, and communities, where he fosters transformation and resilience through culturally informed practices. His collaboration with Shemewé Collective as a co-facilitator of the Parent Time Group highlights his commitment to empowering parents to navigate challenges with confidence and connection.
With over 30 years of experience in education, training, and people engagement, Danny has built a strong reputation as a skilled trainer, facilitator, and mentor. His ability to establish trust, create safety, and challenge humanely has allowed him to make meaningful contributions in diverse settings, including urban, regional, and remote communities across Australia and the South Pacific.
A graduate of Avondale College University in NSW, Danny has further developed his expertise through extensive training in fields such as trauma, cross-cultural awareness, and leadership development. His qualifications include a Diploma of Teaching, Diploma of Leadership and Management, Graduate Certificate in Complex Trauma, and a Certificate IV in Youth Work Training. Danny is also trained in RAP Train the Trainer, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Men's Behaviour Change Groups, Stronger Smarter Leadership, and Person-centred Counselling. Danny's dedication to fostering personal growth and building community through facilitation, storytelling, and experimential learning makes him an important contributor and valued member of the Shemewé Collective.
Danny's achievement include being recognised in 2010 as one of only ten leaders across Australia in The Australian newspaper's 'Mercedes Benz Leadership Series' for his unique and inspirational leadership approach. He was also awarded a scholarship from Richmond Fellowship to study cultural interventions in South Dakota, exploring the Lakota and Sioux traditions of family, mastery, and resilience.
